Australia House Hirafu Reviews
Cozy, wood paneled home Nov 01, 2014
The Australia House is a pair of older buildings within the Kutchan/Hirafu area that are probably the cheapest accommodations you will find in ski season without sleeping in the snow. Now, that's not to say that the price means that the place skimps on anything, in fact that is far from the truth. They provide you with fresh towels, blankets, and a pillow. There is always hot water and wifi. There are quite a few stairs to walk up if you have heavy bags, but someone is always willing to help out. There's a full kitchen, cleaning staff, TV, heating, and computers for guest use in the instance that someone didn't bring a laptop.
The building are located really close to the slopes and the convenience store. Down the street is a climbing wall and there are restaurants all over the surrounding area. There is a shuttle service that takes guests to and from the mountain and a go-bus stop is just around the corner.
I suppose the only issue is that because it is an older building, the walls and windows are a bit drafty, and the heaters aren't kept on at all moments in the day and it's quite dusty inside and a bit of a maze to get around the buildings, but for the price and the location, it is very worth it.
