Austinmer is a small town on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. The name Austinmer originates from a spelling error on the railway station sign, the final "e" was dropped from Austinmere, however the name is still pronounced "ere."

Austinmer Beach is one of the more popular beaches on the south coast. Its popularity dates back to the 1900's when people came by train from Sydney to stay at one of a number of guest houses that were situated there.

Today Austinmer is very popular beach with both Sydneysiders and Illawarra residents alike. It is well appointed, offering all amenities, including a park and an ocean pool and change rooms with showers. However, a note of caution...........the surf at Austinmer is prone to strong rips, so make sure you swim between the flags.
