Austin City Limits Music Fest 2007 Reviews

After enjoying the ACL Music Fest so much last year we bought tickets for 2007 right away. After all, it was only 90 miles down the road. Of course moving 1,400 miles away this summer complicated things, but we just scored plane fare and were not disappointed.
Realize I presented details in a review from last year, but wanted to supplement that with a few observations. One of the best is buying the three-day pass –-- when you check in they affix a wrist band that you can’t take off until the event ends. Although this may seem like a drag it is actually rather cool. You can enter and exit at will (those who buy a one-day ticket can’t get back in if the leave) and after hours, it is like a brotherhood, because it is very easy to identify all your fellow ACL’ers! Another lesson learned was that there are several places where you can camp out and catch bands on opposite stages without moving. It is a mob scene to get real close, and since they have giant video screens at the larger stages, sitting in between two worked out great. Recommend finding some middle ground between the Dell and AT&T stages or the AMD and AT&T Blue Room stages – shows alternate between each of these combo’s so it is one fantastic act right after the other with no migration required. The last thing is that as always, such a tremendous line-up. Here’s who we saw over one weekend: Joss Stone / JJ Grey & Mofro / James Hunter / Reverend Horton Heat / Raul Malo / Steve Earle / Zap Mama / Indigo Girls / Ryan Shaw / Grace Potter & the Nocturnals / Robert Earl Keen / Charlie Musselwhite / Lucinda Williams / Regina Spektor / My Morning Jacket / The Decemberists / Bob Dylan ...awesome... |
