Aussie Bar Helsinki Reviews
Best place for Aussie's in Helsinki! Sep 27, 2011
Whilst staying with relatives on my second trip to Helsinki, Finland, my friends and I went to this bar on several different nights, one being New Years Eve 2010.
The place is only quite small, and the bar takes up most of the room, and there is a small dancefloor and outdoor area. It has the biggest selection of Aussie and Kiwi Beer, and everyone who works behind the bar is a homegrown Aussie. They have a couple of TV's with cable and they show all the major Australian sporting events.
The bar has a very lively atmosphere, but unfortunatly the bar does not serve food - would have been nice to have some nibblies on the bar. It has a very unique interior, of course with alot of Aussie trinkits and niknaks.
On NYE they celebrated every major new year in the world (starting from New Zealand and working along the time zone), and at these New Year times, they celebrated by having 2 for 1 deals. We arrived at the bar around 1pm, in time to celebrate Australian New Year, and by the time it was actually Finland's New Year we were well into the party spirit! It was very crowded, and they had a live band for most of the night. One downside of the music - several songs were repeated over and over again - could have mixed it up a little more.
Whether you’re looking for a place to meet new people, practice on your language skills or to party your brains out, this is the place you should go!
