Auray Vacation Guide

Auray (called An Alre in Breton) is a small city located in the Morbihan region, France. Auray is located about 16 Km. from Vannes (capital of the Morbihan) and 42 Km. from Lorient. Auray has approx. 10,000 inhabitants.

Saint-Goustain is located directly at the river Auray, and is the old city. Saint-Goustain is a great place to escape from everyday life, enjoying a drink or a crêpe (Breton specialty, similar to a pancake). The old and the new town are connected via steep streets.

Auray is located about 8 Km. from the sea-side and offers a good point from which to explore the region.

Tip: Each Monday, Auray has a market which occupies the entire city centre. Although worth experiencing, you may want to take this into account when traveling through by car.
