A trip to furnish our newly-acquired apartment in Kuching, followed by a few days of luxury at the Empire Hotel in Brunei.

Today is officially the last day of summer.  Tomorrow it will be autumn, and Marie will hop on the plane home after a two month visit.  Who knows where and when we will meet again! We commiserated the twin-event at the Cardrona pub ... this time in Auckland.  

So I returned from Christchurch and had a couple of extra days in Auckland.  These days were miserable.  I caught some sort of slight cold, but it just basically made me listliss and I stayed in bed all day Monday.  I did start feeling better on Tues--they have meds you can't get in …

We left Auckland just before midnight tonight. On the way through security I was picked randomly and had my hand luggage swabbed for explosives (or traces thereof). I had a last minute change of heart and use my little sling bag ... if I had used my daypack, I would have been in trouble ... three p…

My second trip to Iran, picking up the (even) less touristed places ... from the holy city of Mashad near Turkmenistan, to the maze of narrow alleys in mud-brick city of Yazd, to the Caspian Sea area.

I started in Auckland, drove to Rotorua, Napier, Wanganui, and back to Auckland. It was a quick overview of the North Island of New Zealand.
