Auberge Internationale des Jeunes Paris Reviews
Cheapest hostel for a sightseeing trip to Paris with perfect location. Apr 22, 2011
It's my second stay in this hostel. I've been there in 2005 and 2011 and nothing really changed.
The accomodations and the breakfast are still very basic but not bad. The 4 people rooms and privates have own bathrooms and encluded toilets. The rooms are cleaned every day and one has to leave the room between 10am and 4pm for the cleaning crew.
Breakfast is served from 7am till 9:45am and very very very basic: rubber baguettes, butter and one sort of jam is available beside of coffee, milk, tea. So if you come, bring yourself some toppings. It's mostly done by the people and the staff does not have any kind of problem.
I paid 22€ for myself in a big 4 people bunkbed dorm. Prices are about to change by season. The prices on the homepage given a "prices"-category aren't up to date, so click on "reservation" and then on your focused travel dates and the definite price will be shown.
Metro Station Ledru Rollin of (purple) line 8 is close to the hostel and connects to the yellow line 1 (which is the main line in Paris) after one station. When you exit the station to the main street, go eastbound (if you don't know ehere east is, check for the (nightly illuminated) golden top of the memorial column of the Place de la Bastille seen above the roofs and walk to the OPPOSITE (!!!) direction.
Rue Trousseau will be the next street on the left. And the hostel is no. 10 on the right side of Rue Trousseau.
The hostel is not supposed to be a party location !!! It's just supposed for resting and refilling energy for another day.
There is no curfew but after midnight they close the door and one has to ring the bell for the night clerk (don't panic, there's always one!).
A McDonald's restaurant is located next to the Metro Station "Ledru Rollin" :D

Typical tourist trap Sep 01, 2011
Avoid this hostel, unless you're 120% sure of your dates & number of persons. In case of date modification or number of persons or even cancellation, they will charge you total cost of 1st night !!!!
There's no way to cancel even months in advance.
So be sure before reserving in this placce, no way to cancel they will charge you full cost of 1st night, it can be very expensive if you are going in a group !!!!
Amazing place for young people! Mar 22, 2010
The hostel is easy to find and is only few steps from the metro station.
There are vending machines with drinks inside. There are also two computers with internet connection (although you have to pay for using them) and a free Wi-Fi.
The staff is friendly, helpful, smiling AND english speaking!
The place is amazingly quiet for such amount of people that usually stay there.
The breakfast is rather poor and if you like to eat, you will surely have to bring your own food. After asking staff we could use microwave to heat our own food with no limits.
There is a lot of places where you can buy food very near.
All rooms, corridors, bathrooms and toilets are clean. Bed are comfortable, all furniture is clean and in good shape.
There is sink and mirror in every room for 2 and 3, which is very helpful. All rooms for 4 people have their own bathrooms.
The only thing that might be annoying for someone who likes to sleep late is that you have to be out of your room between 11am and 4pm (closeout for cleaning).
NOTE: there is a lot of people from many different countries in the hostel during the summer and it's really great place to make new friends.
WARN: the hostel have AGE LIMIT - up to 35. this doesn't apply if you're a school group leader.
