Atos Hotel Prague Reviews
A great Hotel @ a reasonable price Aug 25, 2010
We stayed at the City Partner Hotel Atos from the 11th Jan- 14th Jan 2008 a very comfortable 3* accomdation. 30 min walk from the metro station and a 15 min walk from Charles Bridge.
We found it value for money and easy to find from the airport. When you arrive at the airport outside the arrivals entrance is a kiosk which sells passes for the transport around Prague for as many days as you want. The kiosk sign says bus, trams and metro on it. We bought a 3 day pass for 330 koruna each which is about 10 pounds in english money. We headed out of the terminal building to the bus stop and got on bus 119 which takes you to the metro station where you have to connect to prague. You get on the green metro system from Dejvicka to Mala Strana.
As you come out of the Mala Strana station there is a nice bakery called boulangerie pattisserie which serves very nice food and is reasonably priced.
It is best to buy a guide before you get to Prague as you could get lost without it.
The hotel is in a quiet area and close to Petrin Hill which is worth going up. The tram is included in the travel pass you bought at the airport.
The breakfast is okay with alot of choice. cereal, cold meats, bread & eggs are presented buffet style.
The heating is left on all day just what you want when it is cold outside.
In the room the bathroom is clean and there are clean towels everyday. The beds are also comfy and warm. There is also a hairdryer in the room. There wasn't any tea or coffee factilties which was a shame.
There is alot of good things to see in Prague. just to the right of Charles Bridge there is a Torture museum which is worth visiting 280 koruna for 2 people.
The Astronomical clock is a worth a visit built by a man in the 15th century and they blinded him so he couldnt build any more clocks like the one in Prague.
On the hour the carved figures come out of the clock and the crowds gather round to watch.
You can go up the tower of the clock through the Old Town hall which costs 60 koruna each, worth going up at sunset.
Beware of the cafes & restaurants in the old Town square they charge alot for food and drinks cost us £4 each fro a small Coffee.
The first night we ate out at a restaurant called Hergetova. Address Cihelna 2b Mala Strana. It gives you fine views of Charles Bridge and across to the Old Town. We both had Duck Confit with red cabbage, marjaram & red currant presevre and would recommend it.
The last night we ate at a restaurant called Cowboys Steak & Cocktail restaurant address Nerudova 40 Mala Strana. Definitely worth a vsit a change from the Czech food. The setting for cowboys is nice, set in a 17th century converted cellar. They also ship their steak in from the US. In the summer guests can dine on the heated rooftop terrace which gives good views over Prague. We both ordered Sirloin Steak with creamy potatoes and vegetables with red wine sauce, The best steak we have had in a long time.
Overall, the Mala Strana is a good area to stay in, and would recommend to stay in this hotel for a reasonably priced city break.
