Well worth it if you can get there Jul 04, 2011
Located outside the downtown area, and hard to reach by public transportation, the Atlanta History Center is worth visiting for those who have cars, or a great amount of patience.

Getting there is not easy, as it can tough to get there by public transportation, as it is located in the Buckhead area, which is located in a residential area. And by car, it can be tough, as the signs are sometimes partially blocked by trees, and hard to read, but by far, the best way to get there. Or if not on a budget and don't want to drive, you can take a cab there. Getting there is the only drawback with this place.

Other than that, if you make it there, it is definitely well worth the time, as this place tells the story of Atlanta. There are exhibitions on the city’s history, along with the one on the Civil War and the 1996 Summer Olympics, which were held in Atlanta. Plus there are temporary exhibitions as well.

You have the option to tour the historical homes, which include the Swan House, which gives an idea of how the wealthy lived there. There is also the Margaret Mitchell House and Smith Family Farm, but I never visited them, so I can’t say if they are worth it. But the Swan House is worth it, if time permits.

If you can find some way to get there, then do it, because it's well worth it.
