Athi River is located not far from Nairobi and is quite industrialised. There is a large cement factory there and the population continues to grow.
There is a goat market where you can purchase a goat and take it to the adjacent abattoir to have it prepared and take it home for a nice Kenyan barbecue. Because of the abattoir, you can see a variety of scavenger birds nearby.
