Outside the Highway 10 loop around Athens, the Garden is run by UGA (the university, not the bulldog!).  The Garden sits in the middle of the UGA Agriculture farms; you pass the porcine, bovine & poultry farms before the entrance.  The Garden is well-situated alongside the Middle Oconee River; the Alice Hand Callaway Visitor Center is in a modern glass-and-steel style and houses a small tropical conservatory, gift shop, and cafe'.  The cafe' offered a nice lunch; I had a CB...

So my cousin (well not really but for all intensive purposes...) got married and my family road tripped to Athens, Georgia. We used to make this pilgrimage every year to go to the lake house. There are three families. Our fathers have been friends since basically the 2nd grade (they all turn 60 this year), all with daughters, 5 of us and we're all in order, I'm the youngest currently at 24, then the next is 25, 26, 27, and the oldest is 28. The Army gives each soldier that comes to Iraq or Afghanistan 15 days off during our 15 month deployments. I spent my time away from Iraq not shaving and just enjoying the small things in life. I was in Atlanta, GA, St. Lucia, and Athens, GA.
