Our last morning in Dubrovnik
and my love and I both woke up very ill. My dearest was able to go on a tour
around the town, learning about the old buildings, while I stayed in bed. On
our way to the airport my love showed me the sign carved into a building near
us on Zlatariceva by a cranky priest who lived inside “If you play with a ball
here you will die”. We then flew to Athens,
were badly ripped off by a taxi driver, and holed up in our hotel. The next
morning we were both feel...

We got up at 6:30 this morning for the obligatory tour from the travel agent today and other than going to see a stadium built in the 1890’s for the first modern Olympics we saw the same thing we did yesterday on our own. We traipsed back up to the Acropolis again (Its was worth a second look) and Zeus’s temple (That was not worth a second visit). After that we went on our own again and saw the Ancient Agora that had a great museum and the Temple Hephaestus. After a nice...

Walked to the National Museum in the
morning. Just in front of the museum, this strange looking couple
approached me and the guy asked if I spoke English, I said yes, and
he asked for some money. He said he was a drug addict but needed the
money to sleep! I refused and they walked away. Maybe I should have
given them some money because by the end of the day I would have been
pick-pocketed!
I spent 2 hours looking at various
antiquties, including the striking gold mask excavated by...

One of the most amazing places I will ever go...the island was a great place to relax after spending 8 weeks running around London. It had the most amazing sunsets, the greatest beach side cabanas, and wonderful hospitality!

Was so excited to start our Island hopping adventure - I needed this "holiday from our holiday"!! But I digress, Athens - the city named in honour of the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, awaited! We found at baggage check-in, that both our bags had put on several kilos - how did this happen...a mystery! hehe. Walking around Rome airport were a crazy amount of nuns and monks. I thought there was some sort of religious convention, but then of course I realised where I was...the city of NINE...

It was two weeks before I saw The Elgin Marbles at the British Museum in London. And I visited The Parthenon in Athens at last. Those ruins had seen us since ancient times and they will see the world in the future.

In 2007 i went on a 16 country adventure through Europe and Egypt :)
Being my first massive adventure i booked alot of tours and took taxis in the beginning which i discovered i don't enjoy doing. By the end i preferred just walking around discovering things myself.

Athens (pronounced /ˈæθənz/;
Greek: Αθήνα Athina, IPA: [aˈθina]), the capital and largest city of Greece, dominates the Attica
periphery: as one of the world's oldest cities, its recorded history
spans at least 3,000 years.
The Greek capital has a population of 745,514 (in 2001)
within its administrative limits[1] and a land area of 39 km² (15 sq mi). The
urban area of Athens extends beyond the administrative city limits with a
