day 27th mayarrived at 7:20 in athens and got a bus from the airport to stignama square.had to buy a map to find our way to the hotel then ended up spending half an hour trying to work out which way the map went. there were lots of dogs lying around there seems to be everywhere.walked around for awhile found big markets in one street with fresh fruit and vegies and spices.they smelt awesome. finally found hotel mind you its still only 9:30 they let us check in early . the life has holes which…

Get out of bed at 07:45 – we also made sure our mobile woke us up on time. We pack all our things for the last time; Timo goes to the supermarket and returns immediately, because the market ‘Zoom’ is closed. Within 30 minutes all is ready and we can go for breakfast. Well i know this is a site where u can write about travel and places, but when i talk about Greece all i can think its history. So my ggfather was greek and a big part of my memories are about his stories, miths...and smell of his cookies. All his stories marked all my chilhood....so i start to love what i saw through his eyes, when he was talkin about his country his eyes were sparking...his smile was very warm, and his dimples very deep....he was lookin at the sky and smoke his cigaret…

My short trip to Athens in the begining of last summer.

Adding to a long line of great travels together, my friend Milton and I decided to utilise the time we had while he was over from Australia to go and check out lovely Greece. He pretty much organised the trip from start to finish and I was more than happy to coast along for the ride, finally fulfilling my dream to see the Acropolis... dodging stray dogs and tasting some wonderful Greek dishes along the way.

I had a plan to visit cape Sounion and another place on the day. But when I was walking across Syntagma square last night, there was many people holding signs before the parliament, and there were many police men around. I asked one of them from curiosity, and the answer was 'there gonna be a big strike on 19th, metro, bus, various museum et al will be closed'.So, I changed my plan to a walk tour around Plaka district and to find some traditional music CD. So today was our only full day in Athens! We stayed two nights but we didn't get in till 4am last night and tomorrow we have to leave the hostel around 5:30am to get to the port to catch our ferry to ios! We woke up a little late seeing as we didn't arrive until the wee hours of the morning so when we did wake up all our roomies were gone but oh well. One week trip to Greece with my school mates! Something I'll never forget.

My family and I traveled to Greece, mainly the Islands, and finally to Lesvos where my family is from! It was amazing!
