After spending a few days on the coast in Albania, i finally gave Amy her Kitchen sink that she has been missing since we departed and have been camping. Did she use it? NO. But we managed to stay in a lovely one bedroom flat with air conditioning for 25 euro . We had paid more in Italy for camping. We have walked around the ruins of Butrint, Mycanae, Olympia and the Acropolis in Athens. Photos are unable to be uploaded at this time.Mum and Dad (Kevin and Cheryl), as you are aware i managed t…

After a good night's sleep, we were up pretty early to get showered and something to eat. As I think I've mentioned, the bath was roughly the size of a shoebox, so the bathroom flooded a little bit when I was washing my hair, but never mind! Breakfast was amazing - we were really glad we weren't paying! There was a full buffet with lots of feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, smoked salmon as well as the usual cereal, toast, pastries and bacon, sausage and eggs. Fortified for the next stage of ou…

On our first day, we visited Psiri. Place in Athens famous for its nite life. On our way there, we passed by Kotzia Sq and the Central Market. Later that day, we took a cab to Lycabettus Hill, nice view of Athens in all directions. The place has a chapel and 2 restaurants. We watched the sunset up there as well. After that, we headed to Plaka. Old Athens with all the shops and restaurants. This is where most of the tourist hang out I think. We had a nice dinner and also did some shopping.

Athens, Day 5
posted by:

Five days in and we’ve made it to Athens.  It was a fast day as the ship docked at 7:00 and sailed out at 5 the same evening, but it was a full day.  We left at 8:00 on a bus headed to Cape Sounion.   According to legend, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. The story goes a Minotaur was confined by its owner, King Minos of Crete, in a specially designed labyrinth. Every year the …

In a perfect world with no flight cancellations or delays, and where someone could hop from plane to plane within 15 minutes, how many countries can a person visit in the shortest possible time? Here's one possibility using July 2006 timetables.

In Greece for about 2 months...3 weeks left. I came to try to get to know my culture a little better, I guess it's the classic: "See my father's country" desire. Then again it's Greece...I really don't need a good excuse:) Getting to know my family here better...trying to learn the language...but everyone speaks English! So I usually get cut off mid way through a butchered Greek sentence with: "English man...English." Athens is sick..but try to get out to see Sunion, Delfi, etc.

In June I went with my mum to Athens for four days. It was already steaming hot in the city but we wanted to see all the highlights and the less important things. To cool down a bit we went on a boat trip to one of Greece islands, Angina. Even going out was fun in Athens. Around midnight I brought my mum back to the hotel and I was ready for a good night partying! Great trip, good fun, a little too much culture for me, super weather and a some quality time with my mum.

Its All Greek To Me

The final day of the tour has arrived. As with everything in life, all good things must come to an end. Those of us who were staying at this hotel one more night had to remove their things from the room only to be reassigned another room later this afternoon. Thankfully, we were able to store our things in a locked room behind the reception desk until then. After breakfast, we boarded the coach one last time for our drive to visit the Acropolis. Once at the foot of the Acropolis, it was…
