Atatürk Park Antalya Reviews
Relax under palm trees May 04, 2011
Anybody that has been to Antalya - or going there - will most likely stumble around in the park. Just follow the road from the covered bazar - the old Nuremberg tram tracks and you will run into a statue of Atatürk. Before you get to the statue you will see the roof of an old hamam, take the time to go down the stairs.. you will find a mausoleum and some old canons. In the building of the old hamam they are usually art exhibitions.
Across from the Statue there is a fountain - what most people do not know, once or twice (depending on the months) they play music to the fountain and it changes colors and dances to the music. it happens usually shortly after sundown and for me, it is a nice way to end an evening.
When you follow the right further down you will see a small exhibit about Turkey and her soldiers, they uniforms they used to wear and what wars they were involved at. It was new to me, that they were also in Korea and was very much praised..
"I now understand that the vote I gave in favor of assistance to Turkey was the most fitting vote I gave in my life. Courage, bravery and heroism are the greatest virtues which will sooner or later conquer. In this matter, I know no nation superior to the Turks." - Rose - U.S. Senator" It also shows the role of some women..
I thought it very important not to forget the men and women that died for their country and therefore dropped a few coins in the "tipbox", however it does not cost anything - and there is not that much to see.
It is located right underneath the Army Garden - a restaurant only for military personell...
If you continue on the road you can go all the way along the sea with various restaurant or buffets until you get to the museum... and the beach. A nice, but also long walk, so not for the summer days.
The park is nice as there you can sit in the shade and overlook the ocean..
Part of the list Antalya things to do
