Looking for a place to stay in London? Look no further. May 23, 2011
The Astor Hyde ParK Hostel is located within a ten minute walk of 3 metro stations making travel throughout London quite easy.

The hostel has 24 hour reception, laundry facilities, common room, vending machines, key card access to front door and rooms, kitchen, and dining area. There is a continental breakfast included but it is very modest and the dining area around this time is usually very crowded. It includes the usual cereal, toast, and tea/coffee.

The hostel itself is very clean. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily. The rooms are big a spacious for a hostel and have their own shower and toilet facilities. Each bed has it's own under the bed slide out locker, so if you plan on using it, make sure you bring a lock big enough to fit those. There are also safety deposit boxes in reception that you can "rent" to stow away valuables. The hostel has nightly activities planned and the staff is helpful for navigating your way through the city.

The hostel is quite big and if you have a room on the 2nd floor, be prepared for a workout. There is not an elevator so climbing up and down the stair repeatedly can become somewhat of a hassle. I saw quite a few people struggling with their luggage in tow.

Overall I'd highly recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to stay in London. Fun atmosphere, good facilities, and in a good location.

Good Value Nov 27, 2009
We spent almost a week at this hostel. Thought it was a good hostel for the price. The rooms and hostel itself were very clean. Nice to see the staff cleaning hallways, rooms and bathrooms all the time. Kitchen was a decent size, clean, but closed between 10-12am. Breakfast was good, but I think they stop serving at 9am and are pretty addiment about getting yout out of there at 9am sharp. But a nice area to eat and hangout in the basement. There was a large tv room on the first floor.

This is a large hostel and goes up about 5 floors and there is NO elevvator. I don't really care. I like the excercise. Now for whatever reason and how we lucked out, our electronic key card always seems to deactivate itself every time we tried to go into our room. This meant going all the way back down stairs... which was a long ways, and then coming all the way back up. The card wasn't near a phone, or other credit cards, and yet it never worked on our room. This became very frusterating after awhile.

It was easy to get around. We bascially hung out in Picaddily Circle area and did the shows but I imagine it is very easy to get around using the Metro. We actually walked a few times home and it took anywhere from 45mins to an hour... But was nice enough to do so. Otherwise we used our Oyster Card to use the bus and train.

With the oyster card, be sure to return it before you depart the city to get your Deposit Back. Unfortunatly we left at 5:30am and the Ticket office was still closed and we never got our refund back
