Asses Ears Wilderness Lodge Grampians Reviews
Affordable lodge, with lots to see and do Dec 16, 2008
The asses ears wilderness lodge is located some 40 km south of Horsham.
When i called the lodge and asked if there were any places available they confirmed, and on hearing i was using public transport to get there, Steve (owner) offered to pick me up from Horsham.
On the website it offers 4x4 tours and quad-bike tours. So i informed about the first but decided on the latter. And boy, was it a good choice. Had loads of fun driving through the bush, herding up his neighbour's sheep (normally isn't included in the tour, but well, they needed to get back on their own land) and doing water crossings. All in all loads of fun.
That afternoon steve dropped me off at a parking place so i could hike around.
Now to more of the review:
The cabin where I sleapt in was a 6 persons dorm room wich i had to myself. The bed was a bunk type bed. Shower and toilet were basic but good enough.
The only loudness i noticed were all the birds around, cockatoo's kookaburra's and lots more
As you can see, the hosts are very friendly and will help you make the most of your stay
All in all, i recomend this to other travellers who are also on a tight budget, since i speant Aus$250 on the whole stay (meals, drinks, accomodation and quadbike riding)
