Day 5 : rainCouldn't sleep well last night. Guessing it's because I slept too much yesterday.. Plus my back's sunburnt.. Woke up like 7am. Watched movies again from the morning. It's raining outside with the thunder. Rain today, again.. What a day.. :-(Packed, had buffet breakfast, checked out and waited for someone to share a taxi back to the pier. Was raining and I don't see anyone leaving this island that morning. I had to pay 100 if there's no one to share but I didn't want to wait under …

Our alarm clock is in desperate need of attention at 7 am, ending our dreams in a matter of seconds. We’ve slept like babies and with a wonderfull breakfast in our bellies, according to Aart-Jan the best we’ll get in all Myanmar, we head into the city. Our quest today is to discover Yangon and find out what everyday’s life is all about here.
Yangon is known to have quite some colonial style buildings and the Strand Hotel, our first objective, is a famous landmark. We go there on foot, …

We made it to the the bus terminal 10 minutes before 7AM, just in time to catch the second trip to Baguio. It was truly hard to leave what I believe is one of Philippine’s most beautiful places but for sure, I will make my way here again in the future.

I woke up as Jear rustled about, checked the time and realized it was before 5:30 am!!!Out of habit but with less enthusiasm as I stayed till midnight watching the closing episode of Temptation Island, I then invited myself to joining him walk around the beach.
Barely gargling and without washing up I hurriedly followed. The moment we stepped out we were already getting sentimental and gaga over taking pictures. I was uttering my silent thanksgiving prayers while inhaling in the mornin…

Before I start let me say something about myself: I'm one of those guys that can detect the most subtle differences but I never see something obvious. Read this entry and you will know why I'm saying this.
This morning I wake up a little bit late, knock at Dani's and Kim's rooms, they are here! Yesterday I lost them, he he. Continental Breakfast! There's a week that I didn't have one.
GRAND PALACE, WAT ARUN, WAT PO!
Kim wakes up too late, Dani prefers to stay at …

After yet another overnight train, I landed in Mumbai about 7 a.m. and headed for the Salvation Army hostel, serving up dorm beds for a mere 150 rupees, but just don't expect a hot shower and clean toilet. In fact, don't ever expect that anywhere in India. So far I've had cold showers or no shower, just a bucket with which to dump the cold water over my head. I have no hope for a hot shower until I get home I fear. So I registered for my bed and the fellow signing me in stra…

"The time has come," the walrus said, to talk of many things, of shoes, and ships, and sealing-wax,of cabbages, and kings, and why the sea is boiling hot,and whether pigs have wings."I'm not ready to go ..... but the time has come. On some level, I know that this is the point that I must accept as my departure... and so with a heavy heart I bow to the master of time.I have accomplished everything I wanted to have accomplished, and yet despite it, I still feel unready and unsteady. If you'd …

these photos are the result of a day wandering around the city with no exact destination ; ) however here in jakarta and i believe also in the other part of the planet (singapore is not to be mentioned) bombing is considered to be a crime, so we can only enjoy these kinda street art only for a while. But at some ‘untouched’ area these urban art would last a bit longer.

I lost Christmas somewhere on a plane flying forward in time. I was assigned to a middle seat on a full flight, but the lady next to me asked me to trade places with her husband a few rows back. I get back there and find it's an aisle seat. Elbow space! Yay karma. Next stop, Taipei.

This is it -- the start of my two-week travel that I planned for a month! Well, actually, I was supposed to just come along with some TravBuddies who were planning a SEA trip in July to August -- a hassle-free trip for me, since they had already made an itinerary and all I had to do was join them. But due to sudden changes with my mom’s schedule, who I am traveling with in Hong Kong and Macau and joining these fellow TravBuddies later on, and the schedules would no longer…

At least this flight wasn't delayed! Flying another almost 6000 miles over the Pacific and I arrived back in San Francisco airport about 12 hours later. Time to unpack and look through my photos and update my blog. This trip took me almost 2000 km or 1200 miles by train and bus, and 2 domestic flights in China in less than 2 weeks. It was sort of a whirlwind tour of only part of the Silk Road in China. Is this for everyone? Definitely not, there were almost no 5 star hotels, and some places …

For the last four years usually in the middle of May the Japanese Embassy in Bratislava in cooperation with the Japan foundation has organized a Japanese film festival. During a week the spectators get the opportunity to watch every day 1 or 2 Japanese movies for free in a smaller alternative cinema in the city center. The movies are shown in Japanese with English subtitles. Whenever possible I go there as well to refresh the great memories I have from my stayings in Japan. This yea…

Kowloon Park
We had a free morning. Some of us visited Kowloon Park, a 33 acre area located in the middle of Tsim Sha Tsui. It is often called the "green lung of Kowloon." The beautiful oasis is built in classical Chinese style and there were plenty of scenic spots to for us to enjoy. They include Bird Lake, Bainiao Garden, a children's amusement park, a mini-sized football playground, a swimming pool and a gymn…
