Bangkok: big, noisy, polluted, sweaty, touristy pain in the arse. I have a love-hate relationship with the place that I don't think is unusual. As the train pulled into Hualumphong Station it was love. I hadn't felt so excited to arrive anywhere since I first landed in Asia. Left my backpack in left luggage and set off into the city. Made an abortive attempt to get a Cambodian visa (the embassy had moved); paid a quick visit to a striking Hindu temple called Sri Mariamman, and walked th...

After 10 days of meditation and studying Buddhist philosophy, I returned to the village of Mcleod Ganj - to the real world.... Well, if this part of India is the real world. It was strange for me to be in a village with stores, restaurants and people! I felt hyper-sensitive and overwhelmed with all the movement and busy-ness of life, eventhough Mcleod Ganj is a small village.
I took a few days to relax, hike, shop and absorb my meditation experience - and to ...

The first leg of the trip was over L and we were now on our way to Laos. The trip so far had been relatively smooth sailing but when we arrived at the Koh Samui airport we found out the our flight to Bangkok had been delayed for about an hour (1.30pm), which put us into a bit of a panic as we had a connecting flight to Vientiane that was to depart Bangkok at 2.30pm so there was no way we were going to make it. A bit unsure about what was going to happen and with my olds not knowing what to do...

These are various pictures I took while we were driving around the city, either on the Seoul City Bus Tour or on our trip up to the DMZ.
Seoul Skies
First and foremost, you can't help but notice that you can hardly see anywhere in Seoul! I wondered if it was fog, pollution, or what. I thought at night it would clear some and we'd have a better view from our room but no such luck. You can see almost all my photos look grainy - it's not a bad camera, just really hard to see...

At Where Travel, Chris and I collected our one-way tickets to Calcutta from Mr.Yongyuth. We organized our belongings and each shipped a box home; surface mail which would take two months. We didn't mind since we would be traveling another three. Mine contained the handicrafts from the hill-tribes, umbrellas and fans from Bo Sang, pictures and slides, a Mekong Whiskey T-shirt, several bootleg cassette tapes and
a few bracelets, maps and brochures.
Chris and I went to Lucy's T...

Finally it happened!
Can’t believe that we planned for this meet up since March, if you have a look in the forum, yes it is! Started by Lola who then disappear ;) As in August there would be a lot of people come to visit Thailand, so we got a good feedback. Including the other 3 thais TB, Dodge, Aioh and May, who helped creating the places and everything. TB Ratu or you all know J.C. had been speaking all around to let people know that we’ll have a meet up and force some of them ...

The original plan today was for Robbel, Maciek and myself to take a day trip to the Terelj National Park, near Ulaanbaatar. However, after a week of bumpy roads, and even more bumps to come in the following week, none of us could really be bothered. Besides, the weather was a bit disappointing, with a thick layer of clouds in the sky, and what good is a national park with cliffs and mountains and lakes and forests if there is no blue sky to go with it?
Instead we went to the Gadantegchinlen ...

I FINALLY got back my passport this afternoon with the Argentine and Uruguayan visa stamps! After a month-long epic visa processing in Manila. HURRAY!!!
I leave in 24 hours and I'm still in the office finishing a million things before I go. I will most likely sleep on the plane from Singapore all the way to Buenos Aires! Hopefully wake up fully refreshed to meet the searing heat and humidity of Buenos Aires!
First the HEAT and then the COLD, ANTARCTICA here I come!

As the airplane began to descend an extremely verdant spot of land was suddenly revealed beneath the thick fog. "Look!!!" I said excitedly, as I shook my sister to wake her up. Her eyes cracked open, and as she realized that we were just minutes away from landing, they grew wide with anticipation and awe at the striking landscape below us- a checkerboard of bright green squares, with crooked roads running between and over them. Further in the distance, you could see the coastline and mas...

Shinjuku is an urban centre around the Shinjuku station in west Tokyo. It consists of an eastern part focused mostly on entertainment and shopping and a western part with a skyscraper district with some very impressive architecture. We are herein the eastern part of Shinjuku which is full of entertainment centres, restaurants and shops.

So I'm here at the airport, enjoying free internet : ) Something right away I can say you'll hardly find in the US. Just hopped off a 12 or 13 hour flight. Think I was in a daze most of the time. In and out of sleep, watching the latest Die Hard, room 1804(or whatever), and that Asian Disney flick about the Samaria Warrior girl. And yes, I probly saw both twice today. I kept looking out the window thinking I was gonna see Hawaii. Drrr, they fly like up and around most of the...
