Ashok Hotel Jaipur Reviews
Decent enough Mar 27, 2011
I paid 300 R per night here. I recommend you don't turn up with a rickshaw driver here, as they will escort you in and the hotel will charge you 50-100 R extra as part of the driver's commission. They charge a little for the hot water that is brought to your room for the shower, but if you are staying there for more than one night, I think you could waggle a very good discount!
About 5-10 minutes on rickshaw from the Taj Mahal, and slightly less for Agra Fort. Not a bad spot for the tourist sites.
The rooms were generally clean enough, but the lack of open windows and fresh air made the room feel more claustrophobic. The sheets were clean and although the pillows weren't soft, this is budget accommodation!
The room had a TV and a decent range of channels.
Comfortable enough and rather large. The sheets were clean and the blankets were warm enough for most times of the year.
Bathroom & Shower:
The bathroom was ensuite and was passable enough. The toilet was western style and free soap is provided!
The hotel staff were very polite and affable people, and genuinely easy to speak with. Their hints and tips were very useful indeed, and I recommend asking them for any help with queries. A couple of the western guests were rather rude and condescending to them (they expected something amazing for 300 R!), and the polite and respectful response of the hotel staff was rather impressive.
