Ashford Castle Reviews
Lovely castle stay Oct 27, 2009
Stayed two nights in September during a two week self-drive tour of Ireland and wasn't disappointed. The castle is set in a beautiful area by the lake, Crough Patrick is nearby and worth the climb when you have a castle to come home too. Staff was friendly and attentive, the breakfast buffet had good food and a nice selection, the town is quaint and very picturesque and the Irish are so friendly! This is also near the area where Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley had a few of her castles. If I ever go back to Ireland I would definitely stop here and stay, worth the money!

We wanted to spend a night in a castle while we were in Ireland. We chose Ashford and was not disapointed. It was huge the gardens were gorgeous and it was a great time. The castle is very "hotel" like its not dreary and cold like you would think a castle would be. They have many activities like fishing, archery, golf, equestrian and lake cruising. They have many restaurants and a dungeon bar. The bar was very nice and entertaining. We had a room facing the lake I would highly recommend you requesting one. If you would like a great experience and will be in Mayo Co stop by this gorgeous castle. We plan on returning one of these days. http://www.ashford.ie/
