Ascot Overview

The main reason for visiting Ascot is to go to the racecourse. There are regular meetings throughout the year but for one week every June there is an entire week where the Queen is in attendance every day "Royal Ascot Week".
In the Royal Enclosure, men have to wear Top Hats and morning suits and women tend to dress glamourously with a variety of hats featuring prominently. Royal Ascot is synonymous with millinery, and often at other Ascot meeting this theme continues.
Each Thursday in Royal Ascot week is Ladies Day, so called as only fillies race that day, but has also been hijacked as the day when many women groups attend all dressed up in their finery.
Other than the racecourse there are a few good hotels and golf courses nearby and it is in easy reach of Windsor and London an hour away by train.
