Ascona is a small village in the canton Tessin. In this canton the temperatures are mostly higher and the weather better than in the rest of Switzerland. They speak there Italian.
It owns a nice quayside and lovely colored houses. The village is located on the delta of the river Maggia that flows into the Lago Maggiore.
I can advise you to hike in one of the numerous valleys. They have a nice scenery. I liked the Valle Verzasca very much.
