Asa Wright Nature Centre & Lodge Reviews
For Nature Lovers! May 15, 2011
Asa Wright is fabulous place for birding! You can see many of the island's exotic species in this place. One of the most relaxing features is the verandah, from which you can sit comfortably, sip some home grown and blended coffee, and enjoy the view of the birds, the tigor lizards, and the rolling Northern Range!
The cost is a little on the steeper end compared to prices in other parts of the island, but it all goes towards suporting research and conservation efforts.
The food is very nice also- they offer a variety of local cuisine using mainly produce from their farms or locally bought. (Try the cream christophene- very good!)
There are several trails the guides will take you along to observe the natural rainforest and to spot birds, usually however it is the Discovery trail. They also facilitate over night guests and can arrange other tours to other parts of the island as well.
After your warm walk through the rainforest you can cool off in one of the naturally formed waterfall pools (clear water pool- the others are for overnight guest only). It's cold but completely refreshing!
This place is totally worth the time and effort to visit!
