See Arvada, Wyoming May 04, 2017
Arvada is a tiny but growing town of 43 (up 30% since 2000) located just south of U.S. Highways 14 and 16 in Sheridan County in Northern Wyoming not far from the border with Montana. The town located on the west bank of the Powder River and is surrounded by prairie dotted with farms and rolling foothills. In 1891 a town named “Suggs” was established on the east n=bank of the river. Suggs was at the end of the railroad line at that time and had a reputation as a town full of bars and brothels. The following year, Arvada was established on the west bank at a site where a ferry had served the stagecoach line since 1889. In 1893 the post office moved from Suggs to Arvada aiding the development of Arvada. There are two bridges near Arvada that cross the Powder River and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The main attraction I saw, however, was the Arvada Bar which was established in 1895 and is still in operation today. I met a few nice people here.
