Despite initial equipment failure, constipation and self-doubt, all of which I overcame, this low-lander made it to the Summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! For the curious, that is 5895 meters, or about 19,340 feet, a bit higher than Everest base camp…

We somehow managed NOT to book a safari trip in Dar, as we wanted to check out the agencies once we got to Arusha ourselves. Turned out to be a good move. But first things first!
It was one h*** of a busride to get there! It's quite a few hours, if I remember right it was 8. So, unsure of whe…

*** under construction ***
In 1992 I spent four weeks in Kenya + Tanzania - two of them with a freind of mine who was working in Rwanda in those days.

Fortunately my friend had brought his camera, too. No tele lenses, though, but at least I could take some pictures. And I had more time to watch what I saw! :-D

Hello again! We are done with Safari, back in Arusha and therefore officially done with the first half of our Tanzania tour... it has only been 6 days, but both my dad and I agree that it feels like foreverrrrr. Having entered another country (country number 4 for those of you counting) we made up for our lack of activity for the last couple of days and got straight into a 3 day game drive. This was in the Serengetti and the Ngorongoro crater. Setting out from the "snake park" campsite aptely named as it h…

Right I thought it’s about time I wrote about the robbery as well, as it was defiantly an interesting experience and I want to be able to remember it in years to come. I don’t want this to put people off coming to Arusha or Tanzania as it could have happened anywhere and as you’ll read I feel…
