We get to Hanford about once a month, and nearly every time it is to visit this very friendly old time era coffee shop/lunch place. But this is an extremely different kind of place. First, it is part of the oldest building in downtown Hanford, and the owner has managed to find some of the oldest signs and has them spaced around the brick walls. Also old coffee cans, coffee makers and the like. He also sells bottled soft drinks that you will not find any where else in the local area. He does a wonderful luncheon menu for the business crowd and has great desserts that change frequently. He’s always coming up with new super sweet ideas. Last month they came up with a smoothy called the Frozen Chicken Smoothy.

There is a wonderful novelty area next to the eating area where you can purchase cute cards, and unique items both quirky and slightly adult in nature. Nothing dirty or nasty, but cute and silly. And the thing we like the most here is that on the first Friday on nearly every month they feature music from 7:30 pm til 11 pm. One of the local jazz guitar players invites several friends to come and jam with him. They play jazz, blues, fusion, and some rock. It’s fun because of the improvisation.

This local coffee shop/lunch café/art shop is from the old time era. Small, very friendly, and amazingly good foods and drinks. You will find some of the oldest or most obscure soft drinks here, in bottles! The walls are lined with some of the old era coffee makers, coffee cans, and signs from days gone by. Once a month on the first Friday, they host a musical evening with one of the local jazz guitarists and his friends (who change nearly every month) and they play from 7:30pm til 11pm. The music is sometimes jazz, sometimes blues, and sometimes old rock and roll, but is always very enjoyable and fun to listen to, because being a jazz guitarist means improvisation. By the way, their coffee beats Starbucks every day of the year!
