Art's Riverview Jungle Lodge Khao Sok Reviews
An incredible experience! Jan 03, 2009
We booked a tour with 2 nights at Art's and 1 night at the rafthouses through Limestone Lake tours. We loved the whole experience!
Upon arriving at Art's, they promptly brought us to our treehouse ( which was C) carrying most of our luggage. We were very pleasantly surprized with our treehouse room. It was clean and quite spacious. There were a few ants in the bathroom, but what do you expect in the jungle? We thought we find more creepy crawlies than that, lol. The shower is cold water only, but we knew that going in and sucked it up. The view from our room was amazing.. the river out front with the mountains in the backdrop. The food at Art's was incredible! There was a great variety and we loved every dish we had! Very tasty!
Every late afternoon around 4PM the monkeys would start to come out and we had monkeys all over our treehouse. It was awesome watching them.. some came right up to us as we sat and watched. Word of warning, we had all our doors and windows closed when we went out, however, there is a small space between where the roof and the wall meet. The monkeys can and will fit in this space. First day we were there the monkeys went through our luggage and chewed on my toothpaste. As much as I found this amusing, we made sure to keep all our luggage zipped up when we weren't in the room, and nothing lying around.
Also in the early morning and late afternoon , the cicadas started up with their high pitched squealing. We didn't know what they were at first, but found out they were a type of insect.. the loudest one in the world. One of these came into our room in the middle of the night one night squealing. Scared the pants off us, but again, was part of the experience and we can sure laugh about it! The mosquito nettings above the bed were in good condition thankfully.
The only downside was with the tour, we had originally requested to go river tubing and then hiking. They weren't keen on taking us river tubing as the claimed the water lvl to low and they'd have to drive us out about 20 mins and there was only 2 of us. ( the day before they did take a group out tubing) so instead we had the Thai massage. And insead of the hike, we for some reason got signed up for the elephant ride, which after going to the Elephant Nature Park, was not how we prefer to enjoy elephants. I did ride part of the trek on the elephants neck instead of the chair however and did enjoy that. Now I'm not sure if the tour guides were employed by art's and Limestone lake tours hires them out or how they do that, but we were disappointed a bit by that. We preferred however to just enjoy every moment and decided not to dwell on it or let it get us down.
All in all, a great experience.. one we would do again in a heartbeat!
