a place of creativity Feb 06, 2017
Lukang Osmanthus Alley Artist Village was established in 2010 by the government and i came across it by accident as it was not mentioned in my guidebook or literature i git from the information center. Where it stands today was originally a Japanese dormitory complex but now it consists of several bungalows where the artists work on their creations and sell their crafts to the public. Unfortunately most of the artists had a sign on their door saying "NO PHOTOGRAPHY". Th place was neat with footpaths and a well taken care of garden. The area borders the old town of Lukang and is just a stone's throw away from the Assembly Hall. Exhibitions and performances also take place here, highlighting the culture and humanities of the town. There are actually 10 residencies here where artists may stay and work for a period of one year.
