Artis a zoo with education and entertainment Jul 11, 2009
Artis is the Zoo in Amsterdam.
During summertime they have the so called ZOOmernights where they stay open until sunset (which varies every day of course) and during the evenings that have all kinds of things organized. From entertainment to picknicks to tours backstage. Myself I visited the kitchen where the prepare the food for all the animals in the zoo and I had a backstage tour with the elephants on how they are trained and treated. An evening well spent. Since the last time I was there Artis did a lot too make the park bigger, new cages for the animals, new plants everywhere.. and the part where the Aquarium is.. haha... you can see the 'canals' of Amsterdam!! We stopped by the reptile house.. and the crocs are SO BIGG!!!! hihi.. Little tip from me! Bring your own food and drinks.. the restaurants are expensive but the entree price is good for what you get!! |

Door omstandigheden kwam het beter uit als we pas wat later naar Artis gingen maar in de zomertijd… ZOOmeravond in Artis // ZOOmernight at the zoo |

One market was mostly ordinary food and old things, and the other market was mostly cool arty things and posher food. The Jordaan also homes the only vintage clothing shops I've seen in the Netherlands and some gifty-jewelry-arty shops, and the cutest baby stuff shop I've ever seen. Nobody I know has babies, so I removed… shopping |

Sex museum was a laugh for the British and arty for Europeans, so 3 euros each and we went in. Very, erm, nice. Enough said. Sightseeing tours on the canal is a must and at 7.50 euros is a bargain. A trip around the centre of Amsterdam, and looking at famous buildings, and then… Amsterdam, Netherlands |
