Arlington West Memorial

I'm not sure how to begin this review but the words breathtaking, inferior, THANKFUL, sorrow, courage and bravery come to mind. I have never been to Arlington National Cemetery and I never expected to see the effects of the war when I went to visit the Santa Monica Pier last April. There sat rows upon rows of cross sticking out from the sand, carefully placed in perfect rows. We were not sure that was going on as we began to walk up the pier entrance. As we made our approach there was a beautiful US flag flowing effortlessly by a breeze. We were handed literature about what we were going to witness.

Every single cross was for a brave member of our military whom as given their life to protect our country. Sadly this number has risen since we were there. The crosses are placed for families of the fallen to grieve, reflection for everyone to see how many lives have been taken due to the war, education for people on soldiers returning but most importantly to remember. It is very hard to describe the emotions and I don't even have someone personally tied to me in the military yet I was beyond thankful and felt privileged to stand there in that moment with the names of the brave so I could give my thanks silently to them. It is open every Sunday from sunrise to sunset..God Bless the US...
