a few complaints but overall it was a nice stay Aug 05, 2009
NOTE: Delayed review from christmas time

we stayed here the first weekend of december. we arrived that friday night about 6:30pm. there is no parking on the main street in front of the hotel. the side street was packed already. we drove around for a sec then noticed the hotel parking garage about half a block away (same side of street). its lighted inside but pretty grim looking. unless you know the garage sign is there its really easy to over look it. we found a spot but lost it when we left later that night. we ended parking on the street cause we dared not see what was upstairs. valet is offered. on the menu was two hourly rate deals that i cant remember and the other was $12 a day. every time we came and went seems like there were a line of people waiting to have their vehicles brought.

the lobby was nicely decorated and they had a big gingerbread house set up. people were hanging out in the lounge area and a few people were having drinks at the bar. the bartenders were okay i guess, just dont let mona (short, older white female with short dark hair) fix your drinks. apparently she was sick that night and we saw her cough up a lung into a few drinks. not pretty at all.

check in was quick and easy.

saturday morning we had appointments at the bath house. lemme tell ya you need to treat yourself to this. first off they do advertise couples massage. they dont do that anymore. apparently in the past they had problems with people getting upset when their partners enjoyed the opposite sex massage treatment a little too much. so now its all same sex and in different areas.

you go in and they give you a velcro waist towel and an area to undress. you put your clothes in a locker and take the key with you. it has an elastic band you put around you wrist. next stop is the bath. they make the water hot as you want it. the tub itself is nothing special. like the one at home but way bigger. all the tubs are seperated and have a curtain to block off your little area. the attendant offers to scrub your legs, arms and/or back. i passed...lol. the 40 minutes or so that you're in the tub goes by fast. probably cause i slept 10 minutes of it. lol

after the bath you get 5-7 minutes in the sauna. of course come out before if you cant take the heat. step out the sauna and the cool room temperature feels great.

okay you know the pool chairs you lay out on to sun tan on? well imagine a massage table shaped like that. thats the next stop. the attendant asks if you have any aches or pains.( i didnt have any). he put 3 really hot towels on me. one draped over my shoulders covering my shoulder blades. one wrapped around the back of my neck. the 3rd was placed on the bench so that it warmed my lower back when i laid down. then he took the sheet that was on the table and wrapped it around me. i felt like a mummy. oh but he put a very cold towel on my forehead. the hot cold mix felt REALLY good. next stop is a quick shower then on to the massage.

wasnt really to happy about a guy massaging me up but i got over it quick. we talked and he said the oil they used was some kind of special blend that cost them $60 a gallon.

for some reason we had a $30 credit that we could use in the hotel restaurants or room service. we chose breakfast in bed. it wasnt all that good and WAY over priced. i had pankcakes sausage, breakfast potatos and orange juice. she had an omlette and orange juice and it was $34. they ended up taking hers off tho since they fixed it wrong.
