Arlington Hotel Feb 09, 2014
We stayed at the Arlington hotel for two reasons - one was location. It is hard to beat the central location of the Arlington Hotel right down at the Liffey River and next to O’Connell Street. It is only a short walk to the night life in the Temple Bar district or any of the day time attractions you want to explore in the town. So if you want to go and explore the sights of the city during the day this is a good base since it is close to every sight both north and south of the Liffey River. If you like to go to enjoy the nightlife in the Temple Bar District this hotel is still a good location since it is only a short walk home - though depending on your ability to walk in a straight line after visiting the pubs in Temple Bar it might still take you a while to get to the hotel. Only down side to the great location is that you will obviously have trouble to find a free parking lot anywhere near the hotel and parking isn’t included in the room rate.

The second reason we choose the Arlington Hotel was the price - it was actually cheaper than other hotels in the area. We had booked the hotel during a season special offer so the price was a lot lower than the standard rates usually offered on different hotel booking webpage’s. When we arrived to check in they found our booking quickly so the check in process was pretty quick.

The hotel is located in a nice old building along the Liffey River - and I guess the best rooms actually got a view of the river. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for our discounted room. There were no view to the river and actually not much to look at out the window so we just kept the curtains draw when we stayed there. The room wasn’t big but enough to get the bed in there along with a desk with a couple of chairs and a small coffee table. On the wall is a small flat screen television which probably has plenty of English language channels - though we didn’t actually use the television so it might only have a couple of local Irish channels. The bathroom had the essentials you would expect and everything worked as expected.

Down at the pub next to the reception you’ll also find the spot where the hotel has their daily Irish night. We actually expected to go for the Irish night but in the end we decided to skip it. We walk up to the room during the time of the Irish night and there wasn’t much noise to be heard in the room - so the show isn’t inconveniencing the guest who isn’t going down to the show.

In the morning there is a traditional Irish breakfast down at the ground floor. Like all Full Irish breakfast’s it is pretty filling so you leave on a full stomach when you go out the door.
