My favourite place in the world so far. There really are no words to describe the Grand Canyon. Its one of those wonders that takes your breath away when you're there and after you've gone you can't quite believe that you were actually there and actually experienced it. We didn't do any of the trails, we just did our own thing. I recommend going away from the "touristy" viewing points that are surrounded by fences. Go elsewhere and you find yourself sitting off the edge of the rock …

...........won't you pack your bags, we'll leave tonite.Eddie Money was "right on the money" with his lyrics. Mark found out last night that he needed to go to Hawaii for a little business so we discussed the possibility that since I had the rest of July off, it might be the perfect opportunity for me to revisit our fiftieth State of the Union. We weren't sure of our exact departure date until the morning of the 17th, when we checked the passenger loads for future fli…

Had a great visit out west, mostly to southern Utah. Visited many national and state parks. I think my favorites were Zion NP and Kodachrome SP, though it is tough to choose. Anyway, I don't need to go to Europe now because all the Europeans were over here :). I'd estimate 80% or more of the people in the national parks were from Europe (even more when you got on the trails). Met many great people from all over. This is a beautiful part of the world. Enjoy the pictures!

This was my first visit to the southwest region of the United States. Saw many beautiful colors through the landscape as I drove several hundred miles through the region. Also stopped by Las Vegas for the first time.

Williams is the I-40 town that you stop at to visit the Grand Canyon, the best I can tell. The Grand Canyon Railway leaves from Williams and takes two and a half hours to get to the Canyon. That sounds like it might be fun.

Well our trip was cut short sadly. Sometimes you find that traveling with friends is wonderful and sometimes it just doesn't work out. I decided after a bit of unnecessary drama that I would come home early and save my vacation time for more happy times and hopefully save some very valuable friendships in the process. I stayed long enough to watch Eric race which is alway thrilling, the smell of race fuel the engines roaring everybody anticipating the start, all very exciting. In the qualifyi…

I leave tomorrow.... my house is not clean yet, the clothes are still in the dryer, the trash needs to be lugged down... ugh.
This all needs to be done tonight, seeing as how I don't come back here tomorrow - I leave directly from work (leaving early) to the airport - so this is my last chance!
I was already un-motivated, and then by the time I got off work, my brother had been rushed to the hospital to have emergency surgery - he's fine, or will be, just his appendix; but my mother ha…

On the 21st we flew into Pheonix with Air Canada, which has really upped the customer service a notch. After my last bad experience with West Jet, this amazing (movies included) experience with Air Canada might make me go to the dark side. Pheonix Airport is one of the most well organized airports I have ever flown into, with "where to go next" being marked very clearly, and a clever free of charge ground transport system to get you to a) your rental car b) a parking lot where your pick up ca…

I learned how to ride a quad, and chased jason through the dunes throughout the day. He is fast, and he scaled and leaped those monumental sand hills as though carried on a peregrin. I watched in awe, as i felt my own muscles aching with the thought of accomplishing those feats. We had our own trailer with shower, kitchen, and bed - so we made ourselves a pseudo home for a couple days. It was such a delight. Most memorable was our night ride, when we took the quad up into the sand dunes, unde…

After 3 weeks in the cold & snow of Colorado, it was time to head on down with my parents to Arizona. My mom & dad had driven up to Colorado for Christmas, so when it was time for them to head back down south I decided to go with them to AZ. I was there for about 3 weeks as well, and LOVED it!!! This was my first time back in Arizona in 10 years. I was last there for Thanksgiving in '97, and before that the last time I was there was when my family moved away from Mesa (to the Pacific…

The town apparently is a reproduction, even the underground mine tour has been "disneyed"...however, one gets that genuine feel of the wild wild west with staged re-enactments of gun fights, and with the old mercantile shops, carriage rides, and a steam train tour around the town.

I woke up early with the hope of using that little last bit of camera battery to catch a beautiful sunrise. Unfortunately, even though the rain had long since stopped, the sky was still pretty cloudy and I didn't end up with any good shots. On the plus side though, I enjoyed the most wonderful toilet ever. Yes, you read that right. The mesa is a designated campsite and as such has a composting toilet for hikers to do their business. (I won't get into all the deta…
