Sittin' here, last day in Arizona before our long haul over to LA... Oh Page! The nightlife here is crazy! (sarcasm) But really, it's GORGEOUS... Carol's laying next to me craving steak and eggs, Anna's over there still in bed, Tony is somewhere, and we're off to Le Grande Canyon! More later (plus pics) when we get to Mr Tom's tonight :)

Today's plan was to drive for as long as we could, and then see where that would get us. I was thinking we would end up in Winslow, Arizona, instead we stopped for the night in Holbrook, Arizona, which is 30 miles away. Although we were on the road for 16 hours, it was a pleasant day. For lunch, we stopped at a rest area, and had a picnic. The main ingredient, smelly cheese my roommate was trying to get rid of for weeks. We stayed at an Econo-lodge for $53, clean…

We were up pretty early. With a nine week old you really don’t get a normal night’s rest. Margo has always done more than half of the nightly feedings and on this trip, she probably did most of them. Her maternal instincts had taken over, and she was going to focus all of her attention on the baby.
We knew we wanted to walk the trails around the immediate area and get over to Bright Angel Point, which would give us the best views of the canyon. Plu…

We
drove to the Grand Canyon around 10:00 AM and stayed there until 3:00 PM. We
stopped at a bunch of overlooks of which I thought the Hopi Overlook was the
best view. It was truly spectacular and there aren't words to describe how tiny
I felt standing at the rim and looking out ten miles across a gash in the very
landscape. There was a strange mix of humility, awe and strength forming a
cacophonous silence between the crowd and the canyon. I was just dumbstruck and
had that same feeli…

So, Wednesday we got up bright and early (6am is TOO early) to meet a shuttle bus that was picking us up. It dropped us at the underground car park of Planet Hollywood where we got a very crappy breakfast (a honey bun and a bottle of water doesnt not a breakfast make) before boarding a coach that was going to take us to the Grand Canyon. Our driver was called Leroy and during our trip he gave us a brief history of the area all the way to our first stop which was Hoover Dam. We only got…
