Lake Havasu (aka Lake Madness)
posted by:
Apr 27, 2008 - Jan 07, 2009
or my first weekend in the states we packed up the car, and headed on out 4 hours through the desert out to my uncle's place at Lake Havasu in Arizona....He's got a nice pad, and some pretty neat toys - including a Party Pontoon boat, and 21ft speedboat which i'm told packs about 750-800HP with an unknown top speed. He hasn't been able to get it going fast enough. The saturday had some great weather, and we took a ride up the lake in the party barge. When we arrived at the lake all you could h…

Vakantie Dag 6 - Durango (CO) - Mexican Hat (UT) - Monument Valley (AZ) - Kayenta (AZ)
posted by:
May 16, 2007 - Dec 25, 2008

Day 2
posted by:
Jun 04, 2007 - Jun 17, 2007
We had breakfast at the hotel and hit the road about 9:15 am. After stopping in Newkirk to fill up the gas tank, we drove to Alburquerque. We met up with a friend of mine and had lunch at Duran Central Pharmacy, located in Old Town. With lunch finished we walked around Old Town for a bit and then headed to the St. Clair Winery & Bistro. There we tasted a few wines and ended up purchasing their 2005 Merlot. By far the most interesting concoction there was the Green Chile wine. You could …

Grand Canyon
posted by:
Dec 05, 2007 - Dec 18, 2007
From Vegas we headed for the Grand Canyon, with the mandatory stop at the Hoover Dam. This is a solid days drive and a thing to remember is that at the Dam you cross from Nevada into Arizona and loose an hour on a time change to mountain time. We stayed just outside the Grand Canyon National Park at Tusayan. Here there are several motels, a good general store fuel and some restaurants. We stayed at the Best Western which was comfortable and very well appointed including a recreation area and …

From Chula Vista, CA., to Yuma, AZ, Territorial Prison
posted by:

At the beginning of December, I was still in the high desert of Nevada with nice weather and the beautiful sight of snow on the mountains. It was time to head south and I pushed off for Yuma Arizona. The Escapee RV park there was full with snowbirds and as a result I had to change my plan of staying there for several; days. As a result I boondocked for the night and headed out the next morning for Tucson. Summary: Elk Lodges: 29, Escapee RV Parks: 11, Public Rv Parks: 15, National Parks: 31…

So by the South Entrance, they have a tiny village/town that hosts cheap and average hotels and restaurants. I remember going to this Mexican restaurant that also had an adjoining gift shop. I wouldn't recommend eating there. Just so you know. Not good food. Try the Italian place, it might be better.
