Learn About Tucson History Apr 04, 2017
The Arizona Historical Society has an impressive collection of items about the history of Arizona in general but with an emphasis on the Tucson Area. They have a variety of exhibits, and pretty much all of them are interesting and well presented. They also have a Museum Store open 11AM to 3PM Monday through Thursday and 11AM to 4PM Friday and Saturday. It is closed on Sundays. Entrance to the museum costs $8 for adults and $6 for seniors, $4 for kids 7 to 17. Kids 6 and under and veterans are free. Free admission the first Saturday of the month. Great place to take the kids! I will go into detail on a few of the displays I am providing photos of in the following paragraphs.

Historic Buildings Displays: The Arizona Historical Society Museum has several displays showing how life was in Tucson of the past to include: the Hotel Orndorff established in Tucson in 1856; the facade of "The Owls Club" a social club of wealthy and influential bachelors in the 1800s; and rooms from a pioneer home. They also had Geronimo's Rifle but I did not get a picture of that.

Transportations Displays: The Arizona Historical Society also had a nice display of changes in transportation in Tucson through the years.

Hands-On Display for Kids: I know from experience that it is not always easy for young kids like my grandson to keep their hands off the displays so it is always nice when museums provide "hands on" displays for the kids to enjoy and to enhance their experience. Kids of all ages will enjoy the hands-on displays in this museum. This display shows you what it was like to be a Native American here in the 1800s. Another one shows kids of all ages what it was like to live in an 1870s ranch in Tucson.
