Hip Mexican Restaurant with great food, open late! Dec 23, 2008
We found this little restaurant after asking a friend where we should go to eat after seeing Wicked at the Gershwin Theater. It was recommended to us by a local, so we gladly accepted their advice! Ariba Ariba was easy to find and we walked in just before 11 at night, there was no wait but there was a good sized crowd. The lights are dim, there are funky aztec type paintings and decorations on the wall, and hip house music playing comfortably loud. Because it's New York, tables are cramped close together so they can cram as many customers in at a time and avoid building too long of a wait. Fortunately, because of the music volume, we could carry on a conversation and feel as though our talk was not being made public. The service was acceptable, not outstanding...but we were completely satisfied given the price and environment. Our food came out hot and attractive (just the way a date should be!). It was full of flavor and there were also many choices to be made on the menu. The chips and salsa were great for me, not so great for Wolf...the salsa was a too spicy for him. All in all, I definitely recommend this place to friends and anyone who is looking for a late night spot to grab some flavorful mexican chow!
mmm, mmm, tasty!
