Arrived into Buenos Aires very bleery eyed after an early morning flight on three hours sleep. We had a great night last night so I can´t complain too much. We got to the hostel which is a lovely house just out of San Telmo and were immediately told to head down to the Sunday San Telmo markets which were just 12 blocks away. We made our way down thinking they would nearly be finishing and were hit by the amount of people and the music. The streets were filled with stalls selling so many beau...

BUS JOURNEY
After missing one bus we were determined to not miss another. We made sure we were at the station in plenty of time, crossing the Bolivian border as soon as it opened at 7am and booking our ticket on the Argentinian side this time.
The bus was amazing, very comfortable seats and the roads were so slat, no ruts or bumps! It was honestly like dying and going to heaven, haha.
I am kinda glad to be out of Bolivia to be honest. Dont get me wrong we did alot of very cool stuff but af...

Although I went to bed late, or early from the next day, I asked for a wake up call at 7:30am in order to go to the gym.
This was our last day in Buenos Aires. We were leaving the country at 4pm in order to fly to Santa Cruz. Happily it was our free day too. Now it was the opportunity to do some sightseeing. I have already gotten a map.
By 9am I was ready to start on walking around the city and get my magnet for my fridge. But my boss wanted to do a couple of phone c...

We did expect to leave for Uruguay today but woke up and decided sleep sounded so much better.
We went to the offices where the ferry leaves to buy a ticket but we would have to wait forever until we got served and a guy told us to do it online anyway. Shame that the only ferry available is at midnight tomorrow! So, looking at booking with another company and if that fails it looks like we are off to the falls earlier than we first thought.
We went to some markets today and had a general lo...

Pre-Antartica Trip Trauma - Did we miss the boat?
A week before we were due to start our trip to Antartica we realised that we had still not heard from GAP (who we were going to be travelling with) as to whether all of our warm ski gear, that my Mum kindly sent to their office back in August, had arrived or otherwise. Finally, we managed to get hold of the local office in Ushuaia (where the trip was to set sail from), the day before we arrived. They took the postal de...

After several days of hording coins for the bus I had finally accumulated enough to take one today. Rather than go through the effort of figuring out which bus to take to a specific destination, I decided to let the bus be the destination. I went to the bus stop and hopped on the first bus that passed. To be honest I was being a little over-dramatic in my expectations for the bus ride. From the street the run down buses appear to be driven by wannabe car rally drivers. In reality the buses we...

Our flight gets in about 9am, we were picked up by the tour agents, and taken to the hotel. We had a city tour in the afternoon, where we visited a cemetery/park, Evita Peron's tomb was here with lots of fresh flowers. We also toured a neighborhood where it's famous for tango dance halls, and colorful buildings. We had a group diner, enjoying famous Argentina beef.

It's about Argentina, started in Buenos Aires, then Peninsulda Valdes, El Calafate, Torres del Paine in Chili. Then we went to the most southern city of the world, Ushuaia. Our last stop was a visit to the spectacular Iguazu falls at the border of Argentina and Brasil.

El Calafate is a small but very touristy town which is only 80km from the very famous Moreno Glacier (which was the main reason for crossing into Argentina at this point).
The glacier was very cool (no pun intended), we went on a hike on the ice (wth ´´cramp-ons´´ attached to boots to avoid slipping) and an up close look at the glacier on a boat. Pieces fall off all the time from the front of the glacier, and we saw a massive piece rise up from the waters which had broken off the ...

Once the bar exam was done, I ventured to Argentina and other parts unknown. My buddy Larry Motts flew in from L.A. and the real adventure began.

Ahh…Argentina, the land of the gaucho, the land of beef. What better place in the world than to dine and to dine in style, especially provided that the exchange rate that for North American guarantees the highest quality meals for prices a third of those in the United States. Though my four weeks in Buenos Aires have left me far shy of a restaurant connesur and goddess of Argentine food, let me share with you what I’ve learned.
Breakfast in Buenos Aires is light, typically medialu...

On arriving back in Argentina the heat immediately hits us again. We learn that it is around 42 degrees Celcius and thankfully have the roof top room this time with it's own shower and toilet. Do our last bundle of washing in the sink and go out for dinner. While looking for a particular restaurant we give up when we see a line of people waiting to go in a small restaurant. Tag along and get the last available table upstairs in a room totally bedecked in Soccer memorab...

Journal exert: Maru (pronounced: Mar You" ) came to my rescue. She was seated behind me the entire flight. We never spoke. I never noticed she was there. But apparently she was listening to my conversation with my seat buddy. As I was deboarding she said politely, "stay with me". ...OK??!... Even though I was carrying 20lbs of forbidden fruits (cigars, rum, books, oil filters, Victoria Secret's bra's, socks and children’s toys) I was lucky enough to get w...

For me college has been a love-hate relationship. I love to learn new things, visit new places, and start new projects; I hate paying for my new things, my new places, and my new projects. It has always been a struggle at the beginning of a new semester to find that extra hundred or so dollars that seems to just have not made it into your budget. Whether it is that heating bill that you put to the back burner, a late fee, or a scholarship that you mis-estimated, I have always been squeezing m...
