Slept a little longer this night, and got an incredible english breakfast somewhere in the city! The owner of the cafe was this English woman and the food was great! Especially that two of us were literally SICK from the Peruvian food already (lots of bathroom visits, etc). Sight see Cusco a little more. Me and my boyfriend hit the non touristy part of Cusco as our friends went back to sleep.
At 1pm we got on our flight to Arequipa, where we were supposed to meet of with one of my …

Of all the Peruvian cities that I have been in, Arequipa was definitely the most modern. The highlight of its modernity had to be the movie theater, complete with adjoining fast food court with Burger King and KFC. Certainly a big change from some of the more traditionaly Peruvian food, which by the way I should mention that I tried the guinea pig (cuy), I was a bit disappointed as there wasn´t
much meat on the little rodent and it tasted slightly gamey. But they
are right, the brain is…

Of all my travels, I have to say that Arequipa has the most beautiful town square that I have seen. It's beautiful during the day and breaktaking at night. Outside the center is nice too with a lot of cool looking churches and good museums. Kelly and I went to two museums. The first was the museo de la Iglesia de Santa Teresa, which was full of very gruesome catholic paintings. That wasn't really my thing, but it was interesting to see how Peru does catholocism. The second museum was much bet…

Today was the day to plan a bit of pain for ourselves. Trekking in Colca Canyon. We chatted to a couple of agencies and settled for one of the more reputable ones, Colca Trek. Colca is the second deepest canyon in world at 3,191m. The deepest is also in Peru about 100km away and 163m deeper – big deal.
Then in for a wander around the Santa Catalina monastery (they call it a monastery but it is actually a nunnery). Incidentally, in Peru, all the people call Kat Catalina, so n…

he next day we caught a bus to Arequipa, the white city. Buses in Peru are really quite luxurious. They put our coaches in Australia to shame. There are dozens of companies all vying for your custom, but we stayed with one called Ormeno which is one of the largest and we figured it would be the most reliable. This company has a service called Royal Class (other companies have something similar). Think something a touch better than business class in an aeroplane. More of an armchair really, tha…

I seem to have got into the habit of not doing much on a Sunday. I notice that Hewitt is playing Federer tomorrow morning 7 am Arequipa time, so I’ll wake up early to watch that.
The chairs and tables in the garden outside my room are nearly all taken as guests enjoy a lovely, sunny Sunday morning. This really is a very pleasant atmosphere and Armando is an excellent host and mixes well with the guests, always helpful.
Someone has just wheeled out…

Here's some more photos from my travels in Peru. We arrived in Lima, travelled down the coast to Pisco, Ica/Huacachina, Nasca and Arequipa. Then we went to Lake Titicaca and stayed in Puno, before going to Cuzco.
