The Arecibo Observatory is located approximately 9 miles south-southwest from Arecibo, Puerto Rico (near the extreme southwestern corner of Arecibo pueblo). It is operated by Cornell University under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation. While in college, I spent a semester in Puerto Rico taking general education courses. This was an interesting experience and quite the learning experience. While there, I maximized travel time while minimizing study time ;)
