Ardnamurchan Point Reviews
The Most Westerly Point in Mainland Britain Apr 23, 2011
I bet you thought that was Lands End, right?
Britain tilts at an angle, meaning that the most westerly point is actually half way up Scotland. Almost completely unexploited by tourists, you go down one of the twistiest roads I have ever seen, past some sheep. And eventually you run out of land.
Although there is a visitor centre with a small fee for the museum, access to the point, the small glass shelter and the outside of the lighthouse is free.
It is beautiful here. The sea crashes off the cliff and the sun will go down over the sea, and there is lots of wildlife and wildflowers to see. It isn't a short trip, but it's worth it for the coastline and the cliffs. Also, next time someone is telling you about their trip to Lands End, you can tell them that Ardnamurchan is further west!
