A little bit of tourist in the wild Jul 23, 2008
The Arctic Interagency Visitor Center in Coldfoot is pretty much the only "stop" to make on the journey up the Dalton Highway. Its located at MP 175 across the road from the Coldfoot Truckstop and is in a wonderful new building.

The Center has many interpretative exhibits about the arctic region (all about the critters and plants and people that inhabit the area and information about the people and industry that use the road). A small theater allows the center to show movies throughout the day for those interested. A nice little gift shop allows the purchase of souvenirs for those inclined. In addition the center has brochures and maps for areas like Gates of the Arctic NP, Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and other parks and refuges in the Alaskan interior.

A very fun way to spend a couple of hours on the journey up or down the Dalton Highway.
