Arcotel velvet Berlin Reviews
good and modern hotel Aug 06, 2010
This was my first trip to Berlin. So i haven't stayed in any other hotel before.
The Velvet hotel can be called a designer hotel. Everything looks pretty modern in that hotel; the lobby, the bar, the restaurant, the floors, the rooms...
All the parts of the hotel i've seen looked pretty clean to me. Their young staff were friendly, and very helpful.
The lounge music really matched the decor of the whole building.
The location was alright... however since berlin is a pretty big city. I can't tell you, if other places would have been better.
The hotel is located at the oranienburger strasse... a long street with lots of restaurants, clubs, hooker bars, bars, ... no shops though.
It's a good location for having dinner. There are lots of people in the street after 20:00 (8pm)
However lots of (beautiful!) hookers. If you're a bunch of guys, expect them to have a chat with you. After some chats, it really gets annoying.. however they always stayed friendly :)
There's a pretty hip club just next to the hotel called "Tacheles". The backyard looks pretty awesome. It's open-air. The inside of the bar (better said BARS) looked pretty messed up...graffity, street art, wall art, ...
The whole building is divided into 3 or 4 different bars. All those bars however share the same backyard (covered with sand, so it gets the flair of a beach club). Lots of young partying tourists visit that place.
TACHELES is better known as an ART HOUSE. You'll find art exibitions in the upper floor of the building. If you're into arty places, this place surely is for you¨!
+ location of the hotel
+ clean hotel
+ friendly staff
+ room rates
+ 10 min walk away from the brandenburger gate
- not the best place for families with kids

Arcotel velvet Overview
In the heart of Berlin is the historic Mitte district, which is also the address of the Velvet Arcotel. Close to such popular sites as the Spree River with its boat tours, Museum Island, the Reichstag and the ever-popular Brandenburg gate, the neighborhood of this Berlin accommodation is also a good location for beginning a wider exploration of the city.
The Velvet Arcotel is located in Oranienburger Strasse 52 which is a convenient distance from all three airports serving the city.
There are 85 rooms and suites in the hotel, and all have floor to ceiling glass paneling. All are outfitted with modern and state of the art electronics including wireless Internet access, flat panel televisions, DVD players and sound systems. Rooms also have large beds and private baths, cordless telephones and luxury linens as well.
A relatively new hotel, the Velvet Arcotel is considered a “designer” hotel. It extends this concept to every part of its operations, including its “fusion” food restaurant and high quality amenities. The hotel also has a hip and popular lounge as well. There are ample conference and meeting services with high-tech electronics and space for up to 40.
