Underground Tombs of Macedonian Royalties Dec 30, 2010
Actually at the first glance, this site doesn't look so inspiring from the outside. But going down inside, the legendary scene began. There are number of ruins on the site but the most outstanding and interesting part are the underground tombs of kings and royal dynasties of Macedonia. On the particular note is the tomb of King Philip II, the Macedonian king and father of Alexander the great. There is an underground museum which houses the treasures found in the earthen mound. Among the items displayed in the museum are the larnax, the crown and the weapons (notably the shield) of King Phillip II.
