Arashi Beach Feb 04, 2017
Arashi Beach is located on the north-west coast of Aruba, close to California Lighthouse.

It is easily reached by bus from Oranjestad, Eagle Beach and Palm Beach. Bus number 10A stops in a small car park just behind the beach. This bus runs about once an hour during the day. Alternatively, you can catch bus number 10, which travels as far as Malmok, and walk the rest of the way from there. The one way bus fare is $US 2 if you purchase a prepaid card or $US 2.30 if you pay the driver.

During our stay in Aruba in May 2015, we caught bus number 10A from Oranjestad central bus station at 8:15am and arrived at Arashi Beach at 8:40am – a journey time of 25 minutes.

There are few facilities at Arashi Beach – just a handful of thatched sunshades and a few litter bins. There are no cafes or shops to purchase refreshments and no watersport activities.

A few areas of the beach were enclosed by red and white wooden barriers. Closer inspection showed that these were protected turtle nesting sites.

The beach is sandy and the sea is calm and clear with few rocks. We swam for a while and watched pelicans swooping into the sea to catch fish.

We snorkelled for a while (with our own equipment; there is nowhere around the beach to hire equipment). Underwater visibility was pretty good and we saw plenty of small fish. However, much better snorkelling can be found a short walk further south, over the rocks, at Boca Catalina Beach.
