Aracuara Vacation Guide
Aracuara is a small tropical village in the Amazon region of southern Colombia. It sprawls on a shallow hillside fanning toward the Caquetá river. Most of the wooden huts were thatch-roofed and those nearer the river, built high on stilts. A few adobe houses, some painted blue or white, have weather-stained, corrugated tin roofs. A red clay road and a few trails thread the scattered settlement together and cows, donkeys, and chickens roam freely.
The typical jungle village boasts a diesel generator and an airstrip which is across the river. There would probably be no real reason to visit here, however, the village would be a definate stop on a river trip toward the Amazon.
