Try the Mexican hot chocolate! Apr 22, 2011
Kafe Ara is a lovely place for a breather from the hectic pace on Istiklal Caddesi. It has a comfortable interior, with an interesting mix of retro and modern features. It was lively the evening when I went with my husband, who had a delicious chocolate cake and a good Indian chai. My Mexican-style hot chocolate was thick, dark, spicy and VERY more-ish! Worth a return visit for that alone!

... Very nice restaurant in the Heart of Istanbul ... Feb 03, 2010
Ara Cafe is named after acclaimed Turkish photography artist Ara Güler, and it's on the Istiklal Street. If you are close to this restaurant/bistro, and if you feel hungry, I strongly recommend you to stop by here!

They have a lot of specials, but I recommend two things. The first one is Balkan Kofte (Meatballs with mashed eggplants). That is what I'm talking abou. Absolutely great! Fantastic! The second one in Cokertme Kofte, it's another type of meatball with different sauce and sides. This is also good.

As a dessert, you can try their special Brownie (Islak Kek/Wet Cake).

Price seems like kind of above the average but not that expensive according to the size of the dish. So, it's OK.

You're welcome Natalie! If you have a chance, stop by this place. It's very close to Taksim Square which is somewhere you need to visit =)
