Penguins? In Boston? You betcha! A hands on exhibit for kids too! Sep 14, 2008
The New England Aquarium is a Boston must-see. The building is designed around a multi-story cylindrical fish tank that demonstrates how some fish/marine mammals live on the bottom and some prefer the top.

As you climb a winding ramp, you'll make pit stops at several floors in between with a multitude of fish and maritime exhibits. The selection of fish is really no different than say the Baltimore Aquarium or similar, but it's the building's design that intrigues most. At the top of the center tank, there is a platform where a show is performed every half-hour or so. The staff will explain all the different fish living in the tank and introduce you to two gigantic sea turtles.

Good for the kids- they have a hands on petting zoo on one of the levels!

What really sets this aquarium apart from other is the penguin display on the first floor. They have an extraordinary amount of penguins on display and they're all lively and having fun! When you're done with the aquarium, stop by the IMAX theater and catch a movie! Very much well worth it!

After the whole aquarium trip is done, pay a visit to The Black Rose across the street and enjoy a pint and some fine Irish entertainment!
