Refurbished hotel in the heart of Waikiki Apr 22, 2009

With only 3 days to spend on Oahu we chose to stay at the Aqua Waikiki Wave as it was located in Waikiki, in the heart of the busy tourist area and close to the beach, shops, and restaurants.

The hotel is right next to the International Market and one block away from the main shopping/restaurant street. I had read some negative reviews that the location meant that some rooms were noisy. After a quick call to the hotel we book the rooms labeled as "Partial Ocean View Wave." The average price a night was $86 which was only slightly more than the basic rooms which were on the lower floors closer to the noise.

The Aqua Waikiki Wave has recently been refurbished and is nicely decorated. The staff were very helpful and very friendly except for those manning the concierge desk. The room was located on the 14th floor, just one below the top floor and included a flat screen TV with DVD player, a microwave, and a fridge.

The noise from the streets could be heard on the 14th floor but it was not too bad. The only negatives I have for this hotel is that the free wifi is very slow and the bathroom is small and parking was $25 a night.

If you want to be were all the action is in Waikiki then I would recommend this hotel for being clean and good value for money. I would choose to stay here again on my next visit to Oahu.

Nice people, incredibly noisy, and unclean Jun 24, 2007
People running the front desk were prompt, attentive, courteous, and accommodating.

However, the cleaning people need re-training. I stayed for five days, and my bathroom floor was never swept. I know this because some discarded sand remained...read entire review at TravelPost.com

Budget hotel in central Waikiki Feb 17, 2006
In the world of Waikiki hotels, the Aston (or now 'Aqua') Coral Reef Hotel is a cautionary bargain. It isn't right on the beach and it doesn't have a great view, but it is inexpensive...for Waikiki. Its location next to the International Marketp...read entire review at TravelPost.com
